Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy (PRYT)

~What is it?

PRYT combines elements of yoga and body/mind psychology to help you heal, relieve stress and gain clarity in your life, by exploring your relationships with your body, thoughts, feelings and life.  Based on the belief that everyone has the capacity to live from a place of inner-wisdom, PRYT encourages a deeper connection with self, and supports you in making step-by-step choices towards living life to your fullest potential of happiness and well-being.

~What's a one-on-one session like?

Each session is a safe space for exploration, where you will be supported through centering meditations, breath work, body scans, visualization exercises, client-centered dialogue and assisted movements and postures.  Throughout the session you are invited to bring your awareness to what ever you notice in the present moment: Physical and energetic sensation, arising emotions, thoughts and memories. The session unfolds moment to moment to your personal needs, in an environment of total acceptance. No right, no wrong, just your own unique experience of self.

~Who benefits from PRYT?

Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy can benefit a wide variety of situations, including stress-based illnesses and disorders, such as IBS, cancer, recovery from substance abuse, a history of physical, sexual or emotional abuse, fear based issues, eating disorders and chronic pain or simply a desire to live life more fully.

Phoenix Rising is a proven method to enhance overall well-being, regardless of your physical condition or age. Some use it as a compliment to other forms of treatment, such as physical therapy and psychotherapy, while others enjoy it to be a way to de-stress and connect with their inner guidance.

Although no particular outcome is guaranteed, PRYT can help to facilitate harmony between body and mind, foster self-empowerment, enhance awareness and concentration, release blocked energy, stored emotion and memory, relieve stress and physical tension, help you to overcoming self-limiting beliefs and promote personal growth.

*No experience in yoga or meditation is necessary.

~How much does a session cost?

The investment into your well being for a single session is $85. Sessions are 1 1/2 hours.

(Fees for the Turn Stress Into Bliss program vary depending on venue.)

*Please note that your initial one-on-one session may be longer to allow time for intake. Please arrive 10 minutes early to your first session to fill out confidential intake forms.

"In a way, our body is a map...Even when our conscious mind has forgotten, our bodies remember our stories. They remember our pain, our joy and our long-forgotten childhood fantasies and freedom of expression."

-excerpt from Michael Lee's book, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy. A Bridge from body to soul.

~Why this approach?

Throughout your life your body has been with you through every

significant event, and has played a huge roll in helping you process,

internalize and filter your experiences. Often the cause of stress,

physical pain, and perhaps even chronic injury, is the result of

unresolved emotional responses held in the body.  PRYT often

faciliates physical and emotional release through touch, supported

movement and client-centered dialogue.

The focus of the sessions is to help you find practically applicable connections between what you experience during that hour and a half on the mat and what is true in your life. Through enhanced awareness transformation emerges, as you take practical steps toward becoming who you want to be.

~Are there group sessions?

Yes! The Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapy approach to Living with Stress is a 6-8 week group program which explores your relationship with stress in a positive way, through simple yoga movement, meditation, self-reflection, group dialogue and an all-day silent retreat. Each week focuses on a different theme to support your process, such as: Befriending Body; Acceptance; Choice; Discernment and Truth in Action. You will be given CD's and a participant guidebook to support a home practice between sessions, which will help foster a long-term healthy relationship with stress.

*Participants of this program receive a $5 discount on Micheal Lee's book "Turn Stress Into Bliss", a special discount on private follow-up sessions, and an alumni discount on future programs.
